Electro
Optical Synergy (ELOS) uses the same principle as laser but emits broad
spectrum of light (instead of only one wavelength) to reach several layers of
the skin at once and attack certain colours. The most common are the brown
pigments of sun-damaged skin and the redness of broken capillaries. The Emax
photo-rejuvenation combines the popular Intense Pulsed Light system with
Radiofrequency. This synergy of both optical and electrical energies provide a
safer and more effective treatment of patients with any skin type or hair
colour.
Photo-rejuvenation
During
treatment the IPL and the deeper reaching radiofrequency wave, warm the dermal
layer of the skin, triggering collagen and elastin formation, thus smoothing
the complexion and reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Like most IPL’s, Emax has
an attached integrated cooling device to ensure maximum patient comfort.
The treatment
Each Emax
treatment takes approximately 30 minutes (depending on area treated) and being
non-ablative, no recovery time is needed. The procedure is virtually painless,
although the patient is aware of a small snapping sensation.
Gel is
applied to the skin and both the patient and the operator wear special goggles.
While some conditions may only require one treatment, most conditions require 5
or 6.
Acne treatment
Emax has
become the new enemy of acne. It works firstly by stimulating healthy cell
growth. Secondly, Emax makes the skin softer and smoother, restructures and
regenerates cells, repairs and stimulates DNA and has an antiinflammatory
action that is immediate. Thirdly, it has a sterilisation effect. This means
that the intensity of light simply kills the bacteria. It is also recommended
that the Omnilux Medical Revive light can be used in
conjunction with Emax treatments. This will be discussed with you at your
initial consultation.
