Aurora Hair Removal
How does the Emax get rid of my hair?
The Emax uses gentle light and electrical energies to damage the hair follicle. This disables the follicle from growing hair, which means that gradually over several treatments, there is a reduction in the amount of hair in that area.
Is treatment with the Aurora safe?
Treatment is very safe for the skin. There are many advances in the Elos technology that make it one of the safest hair removal systems available for all skin colours.
What kind of results can I expect from the treatment?
Each Aurora treatment will result in less hair coming back, as well as hair growing progressively lighter in colour, finer, and slower-growing with each treatment. It takes more than 1 treatment to affect all the follicles growing in an area. Most people achieve satisfactory results after 4-8 treatments, but individual results vary depending on medical and genetic factors.
How frequently do I need treatments?
The treatments are usually performed every 4 weeks, but this depends on individual factors that your Aurora clinician will discuss with you during consultation. For facial hair growth we recommend every 2 weeks.
Does the treatment hurt?
The sensation is often described as a “hot pinch”, or “snapping” feeling. The sensation only lasts for a fraction of a second, and you may feel warmth or a tingling sensation for a short time afterward. At our clinic we use a machine called the Zimmer. This machine blows very cool air onto the skin and helps to alleviate any discomfort.
What happens after each treatment?
Temporary pinkness in the skin lasts a very short time, and most people return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment. The treated area may “shed” some hairs over the next 2 weeks. Folliculitis (inflammation of the hair follicle) may occur with dark haired people; primarily males.
Who should have treatment for Hair Removal?
Anyone who wants permanent hair reduction and a solution to shaving, waxing, plucking, or electrolysis should try this treatment. There are a few medical conditions that contraindicate some people from having treatment. These will be discussed with your clinician during consultation. Never wax 4 to 6 weeks before having this treatment. You can shave the area only. The hair root must be in the follicle for the treatment to work. Don’t apply creams or makeup to the area that will be treated.
