IPL Treatments
Our IPL Clinicians have a comprehensive understanding of your skin. Emax is the name of the machine we use with Elos techonology. Bradford Cosmedicals philosophy is:
- the results you demand
- the safety you deserve
- IPL Clinicians you can trust
How does the Emax get rid of my hair?
The Emax uses gentle light and electrical energies to damage the hair follicle. This disables the follicle from growing hair, which means that gradually over several treatments, there is a reduction in the amount of hair in that area.
Is treatment with the Emax safe?
Treatment is very safe. There are many advances in the Emax technology that make it one of the safest hair removal systems available for all skin colours.
What kind of results can I expect from Emax treatment?
Each Emax treatment will result in less hair coming back, as well as hair growing progressively lighter in colour, finer, and slower-growing with each treatment. It takes more than 1 treatment to affect all the hair. Most people achieve satisfactory results after 6-10 treatments, but individual results vary depending on medical and genetic factors. Those with grey, blonde and fine hair may achieve this result, but this cannot be guaranteed. This type of hair has little or no pigment. Grey, blonde and fine hair requires more treatments than darker hair and your clinician will discuss this with you.
How frequently do I need treatments?
The treatments are usually performed every 2 to 4 weeks, but this depends on individual factors that your clinician will discuss with you during consultation. For facial hair growth we recommend every 2 weeks.
Does the treatment hurt?
The sensation is often described as a “hot pinch”, or “snapping” feeling. The sensation only lasts for a fraction of a second, and you may feel warmth or a tingling sensation for a short time afterward. At our clinic we use a machine called the Zimmer. This machine blows very cool air onto the skin and helps to alleviate any discomfort.
What happens after each treatment?
Temporary pinkness in the skin lasts a very short time, and most people return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment. The treated area may “shed” some hairs over the next 2 weeks. Folliculitis (inflammation of the hair follicle) may occur with dark haired people; primarily males.
Who should get Emax treatment for Hair Removal?
Anyone who wants hair reduction and a solution to shaving, waxing, plucking, or electrolysis should try this treatment. There are a few medical conditions that contraindicate some people from having treatment. These will be discussed with your Emax clinician during consultation. Never wax 4 to 6 weeks before having this treatment. You can shave the area only. The hair root must be in the follicle for the treatment to work. Don’t apply creams, makeup, do no sun bake, or use fake suntan on the area that will be treated.
Please consult our Before and After Model to see the results of this treatment.
